Overview
As a single point of failure on automation and integration projects, software automation represents one of the greatest risks to successful completion. Through our experience managing many projects, we have developed a proven project management approach that consistently delivers the following results:
- Exceeding client expectations
- Delivering On-time and On-budget
- Ensuring client visibility through many planned checkpoints, including intangible areas like software development and integration
- Managing successfully all sub trades
- Managing risk
What makes TSI different is that, before installation of the new system, our clients complete a "test drive," including detailed functional testing and operational staff exposure for early feedback and training.

Our Project Management Approach
Due to the challenge of testing controls and automation software prior to installation, it is not uncommon to see testing occur on-site during commissioning, which in many cases leads to project cost overruns and missed completion dates.
Having experience with many projects, we minimize this risk through a proven structured process that includes unique practices such as complete functional testing prior to on-site commissioning. Combined with our roots in construction and trade management, we further reduce the risk of having a solid track record managing sub-trades.
Our standard approach includes a number of critical project management steps which are summarized in the following project milestones:
- User Requirements Development (if not already done)
- Functional Specification and Detailed Design
- Software Development and Testing
- Acceptance Testing (with end-user and all project stakeholders)
- On-site Installation and Commissioning
- Site Acceptance Testing
- Project Follow-up

Quality Management
In dealing with several regulated industries and national regulatory agencies, our business requires that our solutions and practices be well defined, documented, and followed for consistent delivery.
As a result, we have an in-house quality process that ensures standards are followed in a consistent and repeatable process that closely parallels the initiatives of the major quality standards organizations.
To ensure day-to-day acceptance, the quality process is integrated into our project methodology that is used on every project. This ensures that quality initiatives like internal audits are continually taking place.

Safety Management
TSI's overall approach to health and safety is structured and detailed, utilizing various information tools such as seminars, bulletin board postings, and hard-copy handouts about key health and safety standards covering:
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety procedures
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) procedures
- Electrical Safety Standards
- Lead Exposure Awareness Training
- Janitorial Safety Guidelines/Drain Clearing Chemicals Awareness Training
- Propane awareness training
- Isocyanate Exposure Recognition
- Lockout/Tagout Procedures
- Safety Footwear Guidelines
To set safety objectives and to ensure these objectives are carried out, TSI supports an in-house Joint Health and Safety Committee. The committee is led by a select group of TSI employees that includes representation from TSI’s executive management.
